We believe that health is the fundamental right of every person and that it is the responsibility of the health profession to provide the kind of health care which will give each individual in society every opportunity to achieve optimum health as a professional person every nurse in our institution is ethically and morally responsible for giving the required care to each individual to the best of his or her ability. Therefore each individual is obliged to uphold these high standards so that one is qualified to the give the required care.

St. Martin De Porres hospital is our parent hospital, which is a nonprofit organization registered under the Society’s act, works under the Patronage of St. Martin De Porres, Started in the year 1960 by the Canossian Missionaries, out of real and genuine concern for the sick and the suffering humanity especially the poor downtrodden and the exploited. This health care institution renders its service through a holistic approach without any discrimination.The students draw much good from this institution which holds good in forming their ideals and motivation for their nursing career. It provides an environment of listening for the nurses, permeated with faith in love of God, drawn from the spirit of St. Magdalene of Canossa. She works as Catalyst in the intellectual, moral and professional formation of human person, equipping the nurses, to be committed caring, competent and professional, integrating the ethical, spiritual, social, political and cultural issues, through a holistically challenging society.

We believe that skill in all aspects of communication is essential for the practice of nursing. We believe that the teachers have the responsibility to help the students to develop pride in the profession and guide with respect to her future in nursing career. We promote an all around development of the students with special emphasis on intellectual, spiritual and cultural aspects needed to prepare a professional nurse, who will be a contributing citizen and an effective “CHANGE AGENT” in an ever-changing society. We uphold and instill respect for life from Womb to Tomb.

Magdalene’s mission through the ministry of education was to reach out to children and youth to offer them formation which would enable them to become persons capable of transforming their lives and the lives of others. Promotion of the harmonious growth of the personality of children, adolescents and youth, giving particular attention to the “Formation of Hearts” – this was the trust of our Foundress in the field of education.

OBJECTIVES

The graduate completing the course will be able to:

Applies relevant knowledge from the humanities and biological sciences in carrying out health care nursing activities and functioning.

o Demonstrates skill &competency in teaching, management and research.

o Show sensitivity, skill in human relationship & communication in her daily work.

o Demonstrates skill in the use of problem- solving method in nursing practice and decision making at different levels of work and life.

o Demonstrates leadership skill in working with health team, community and others in the profession of health care.

o Recognizes the need for continued learning for their personalupdating in knowledge and new techniques.
